Darlene is leaving...

Well, Darlene, one of the tigers at the property, is leaving tomorrow or Monday. She is going to the Palmdale facility which is way out of driving range for me to visit regularly. Major, major suckage for me, but she will have a bigger enclosure to prance around in, so I'm glad she will be a happy tigerkitty afterall.

She has been more affectionate than usual lately, as I mentioned in a previous post; chuffing a lot and letting me scritch her chin through the fence. She actually places her head in a way I can scratch her chin without even putting my finger past the fence (which I'm not qualified to do yet) It's as if she knows she gets extra scritches from the junior volunteers by doing this!
Tiffany, whom you can see at the right, is making what we call a "stinky-face". Basically, cats sometimes do this when trying to make out a scent; it exposes more of the air to the organ in the roof of their mouth that "tastes" the scent.

Some of the cougars on the property have come down with something; they will be seeing a vet soon and I'm a bit concerned about them, particularly my favorite, Mystique.

So in a way, it was a bit of a sad day, but I still got some decent pictures, including the ones inlined in this post. }:)

How sad - sorta

Has Darlene left? I know a bigger enclosurer is nicer for the kitty - but I will miss her too. I know Timmy was not feeling good - who else besides Mystique is feeling icky? ps...it was 21 degrees the day after Christams in NC. Just got back - but checked here to see if any new pics were posted.

Darlene and Timmy

I haven't been to the property today (Sunday), but last I heard she was going to leave either today or tomorrow; Jeff was going to pick her up.

I heard that the vet has seen the cats and that they have been given anti-biotics and should be doing better soon. Timmy seems to be in the worst shape, I hope he makes it.

I'll probably call Barb at some point this week to find out how they're doing...

Darlene

Hello John - Byan and I went out to the property yesterday afternoon. Darlene was already gone. I am sad - but now she is with Jeff. I also got to see Timmy - he was at the house. He did look a little sad but had eaten food that day which was very good. I visited next to him - he purred and talked a bit. Talk to you soon.

What a relief to hear that...

Thanks for the note. It's a relief to hear about Timmy. Was Tiffany still there? I hope she's not all alone in that cage now. I'm always happy that the tigers have each other, even if they can't have their freedom...

I wish I could visit the property after work, but there's so little time before it gets dark. Maybe in the summer I'll try, when the days are longer...

Tiffany

Tiffany was by herself for the time being. She was VERY VERY happy to see us. Somehow she had managed to lock herself in her own lockdown. It was alarming at first because we thought she had been in there since Saturday but Grace had been there the day before and seen her roaming her cage. After some thought it became obvious what had happened. It looks like she pushed in the lockdown door then accidently pushed it shut behind her. I do not think she had been there long as there was no mess and she just seemed happy to see people. Are you working Sunday?

Weekend plans

Weekend plans aren't laid out yet, but I'll likely be visiting property at least one of the days (after sawgrass, preferably).
