Random Crap

One of those rare "post" things I do now and then...

So I haven't posted in quite a while. Time to do so! I've been a busy lynx.

So far 2007 has been going pretty well. I love my Catsy like crazy and we're getting along wonderfully.

Hopefully things will progress to the point where we can fix the distance problem, which does eat at me sometimes. But that's life; gotta be patient.

I now highly regret not having attended Further Confusion. I was going to go, but decided not to for various reasons instead; unfortunately I had been a dimwit and not found out who WAS going; it turns out most of the regulars I hang out with in Second Life at Luskwood were at the con! Aiieee! I missed out on a lot of fun, I bet. To all those whom I didn't see because I failed to go: I love all of you! I'll make it next time I promise.

There's no point in moping about missed opportunities, though. I may end up going to the Second Life Community Convention this year, as it's in Chicago which is cheap to travel to. I really want to meet more of the Luskwood gang and folks that I've grown to be friends with these past months.

I'll probably definitely be roadtripping to Megaplex in Jacksonville, in March. I have yet to miss a single Megaplex and don't plan to start missing it this year. So if you're going, I shall see you there!

AC this year? I don't know. Depends on how many people I know are going. I do want to see Rob Paulsen who is the Guest of Honor, but we'll see.

Hope everyone is doing well!

This is the annoying song...

It goes "La la la la la..."

Thanks to ShadyFox for introducing it to me...

You'll hate it but you'll sing along, it goes "La la la la la...."

Heh...

Mrrrowrr!

Rawr! Well, it's been a while since I've written in depth, really. A lot has been going on lately.

Work has been a bit crazy, with the beginning of Fall Semester and all that. We've had some hardware failures and power failures and have been kept on our toes pretty much the entire time. Looks like things have settled some, though, so it may be time to start pushing ahead on long term projects once more.

I got myself a Mac Pro. To say this machine is fast would be an incredible understatement. Four 2.6GHz cores working together mean processing muscle is never far away. The video board is a bit low end (Nvidia 7300GT) but I hope to eventually correct that when the ATI X1900 becomes cheaper. Second Life runs amazing on this machine; even a crowded Luskwood still exceeds 10 most of the time. My Macbook Pro can barely get 4 on the worst days. Not bad!

I will be at Midwest FurFest. So if you want to say hi, look for me. Though I'll probably be hiding out with close friends half three-quarters of most of the con.

Also, I met someone very special through Second Life. She lives far away, but so far things are promising. Distance can be always be fixed when people finally find their true mate in life. ;)

More Second Life silliness

How high can you go?

Pretty high. The problem when building these towers is no one can move; if anyone moves or disconnects, the whole thing comes crashing down, which is also quite hilarious to watch.

And of course, herding furries is like herding cats. Only not all of us are cats, so it gets complicated.

Heh, I'm in a silly mood this morning...

Zany to the max!

Got my Animaniacs DVD set yesterday! Wow, this has brought back memories, big time. I practically grew up on this show; it is the animated TV show I remember and enjoyed most, and it's about time WB decides to release it officially after being buried and unwatchable for years. This show was also a major contributing factor to my entry into the furry fandom, among other things.

The DVDs are quite excellent; the video quality is good and it's nice to see the episodes as they were originally aired instead of all chopped up like those bastards at Nickelodeon aired them. I watched the first disc last night and will be watching one disc a night for the next few days, except possibly tonight since I have other plans.

Anyway, if you remember and loved this show, be sure to pick up the DVD set! It's worth every penny. }:)

Crazy last few weeks... Relaxation time!

I've been a busy kitty; haven't updated too much lately. I figured I'd summarize what's been happening at least...

Went to Jacksonville the weekend before last. It was fun; I hung out with some friends there and we went bowling, goofed off in general and had a good time. On the way home I stopped in Orlando to visit someone else and we went to a Sushi bar for dinner. Spicy tuna rolls yum yum.

Last weekend I visited some friends in Chicago! It was tons of fun; especially the visit to downtown. Also got to eat dinner at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock tower! The view from up there is amazing; I'll be sure to post photos as soon as I get them; I took them with someone else's camera.

Now it's time to get back into the grind; my next trip will likely be MidwestFurFest in November, and that's a long way off. I'm most looking forward to my trip to California for Further Confusion in January, though; that promises to be fun since I'll be meeting some folks I've been wanting to meet in person for years now.

I've purposefully made sure that this has been a slow weekend. Have been mostly goofing off at home, DJing in Luskwood on Second Life and relaxing. After not spending a single full day at home in three weeks, I needed it!

Anthrocon 2006 was a blast!

Well, as the subject says, AC'2006 was a blast. I've never been to such a big furry event in my life, and it was absolutely amazing to see so many like-minded folks running around, so much art, and to meet folks I've talked to only online until that point.

At various points through the con, I ran into Tugrik, Posi_Cat, Taxus, Jessup, Revar, TaniDaReal (a favorite artist of mine), and many other folks I've chatted with on and off over the years. I also got to meet Misha the bunny, whom I've been RPing with for months, and found some new friends as well.

I scored some artwork; namely Winter's Beauty by XianJaguar (whom I also met), a really cool print of a lynx painted onto a feather, a print of a cute cheetah lying down from Caribou, and a few other random thingies. Sadly, my usual favorite artists didn't have anything I was particularly interested in, which is sad, because I wanted to support them. Especially Tani DaReal.

Overall, a successful con. To all of you whom I've met, it was nice meeting you! To those whom I didn't meet... there's always next time!

Up next, Further Confusion 2007, most likely. That oughta be a blast; there's a few people I'm looking forward to meeting; you know who you are.

I wish I could be that rad...

Having grown up in the Nintendo generation, I couldn't help but find this to be incredibly amusing:

Now you're playing with power!

Of course, the game on the screen is Capcom's Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers! I loved that game, especially because you could piss off your friend in two player mode by picking him up and throwing him into enemies and pits. }:)

And damnit, I wasn't as rad as him. {:(

What's new pussycats?

Just an update on some things, since I haven't posted seriously in a while...

Anthrocon 2006 is coming soon. I shall be there! If anyone who knows me and wants to say hi is also going, let me know beforehand! Anthrocon is HUGE, it is unlikely that we'll run into each other by pure chance. I already have a few folks' numbers but just want to make sure I see everyone who wants to see me.

Lion King Caption Zaniness is no more. Sorry folks, but I got tired of folks posting obscene materials and being asshats in general. If there is any demand, I'll bring it up in read-only mode, but unless anyone asks about it, it will stay down. It actually WAS down for a couple of weeks since I upgraded my server, and no one complained, so it doesn't seem to be missed much.

This server was upgraded. I doubt anyone cares, but it's faster now.

I'm extremely happy with my Macbook Pro. Since my last post, I got Boot Camp going on it, and have been playing Oblivion and other games on the XP side quite nicely. This machine truly is the ultimate laptop ever constructed; it's the best of both worlds! Mind-blowing.

Also, Teekay has apparently found a home. What a cutie; I hope she has a good kitty life!

That's it for now, later folks!

Adorable kitten up for adoption!

This loveable kitten is up for adoption. If you're in South Florida (or are willing to drive there), consider bringing this bundle of cuteness into your life. She's incredibly playful and sweet, and is quite adorable too!

If you're interested, comment my journal; the owner of the kitten (who is not me; I just took the photos) will be reading.

Update 5/12/2006: We found someone to adopt her! I'm leaving this post up so you can awwww at the pictures some more, though. }:)
